Two-time Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber (Spamalot, Shrek) will begin performances as Georges opposite Harvey Fierstein as Albin in La Cage aux Folles five days earlier than previously announced. Sieber is now set to join the Broadway revival on March 11 rather than March 15 at the Longacre Theatre. Understudy Chris Hoch has been playing the role since Jeffrey Tambor left the production on February 24.
La Cage aux Folles features music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and book by Fierstein, based on the play by Jean Poiret. The current revival is choreographed by Lynne Page and directed by Terry Johnson.
In addition to Fierstein and Sieber, the cast of La Cage includes Mike McShane as M. Dindon/M. Renaud, Alyce Beasley as Mme. Dindon/Mme. Renaud, Chris Hoch as Francis, Elena Shaddow as Anne, A.J. Shively as Jean-Michel, Christine Andreas as Jacqueline, Wilson Jermaine Heredia as Jacob, Heather Lindell as Colette, Michael Lowney as Etienne and Bruce Winant as Tabarro.
